Ravens draft TE Mark Andrews

The Baltimore Ravens have selected tight end Mark Andrews in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft. Andrews was the Ravens second third round pick behind Orlando Brown Jr. and also the Ravens second tight end taken in the draft. The Ravens also drafted tight end Hayden Hurst with the first pick in the NFL draft.  Andrews played college football at Oklahoma.

Andrews is more of a receiving tight end that came into football as a wide receiver.  Andrews runs a 4.67 40-yard dash and is 6’5″ which are great athletic traits.  Andrews also had 22 receiving touchdowns in college and 1765 total receiving yards.

The Ravens needed to rebuild their tight end core.  Right now Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle are the only tight ends on the roster.  With drafting Hurst and Andrews the Ravens right away make their tight end group better.  Williams has struggled with injuries and Boyle is more of a blocking tight end.  The Ravens have always used the tight ends a lot and just lost Ben Watson who was their leading receiver in free agency.

I would be surprised if the Ravens kept all four tight ends and it will be highly unlikely that one of their top draft picks do not make the 53-man roster.  If I was to make an early prediction I would say that Boyle may be the odd man out or all four make the team.

I like the draft pick of Andrews, he is a great receiving tight end who can make plays.  Hopefully he can develop into a good blocker.

Enjoy some of Andrews highlights.
