Punchless Terps go down quietly in defeat at Penn State. Game recap

FINAL SCORE 38-3 PSU

FLAT TERP

Maryland won the coin tossed and decided to kick instead of recrieving to start the game.

Winning that coin toss was about the only thing that went right for a Terrapin team looking for their 6th win this season and gain bowl eligibility.

Instead it was the Trace McSorley show as the Penn State senior quarterback throttle the Terps with his feet and arm on a cold and rainy evening in State College.

However a majority of the Nittany Lions domination came due to their defense which kept a hot Terps offense coming in and basically sofficated it.

Penn State as many of the teams that have had success against the Terps offense have so crowded the line of scrimmage and dared the Terps quarterback and in this case Tyrell Pigrome to beat them repeatedly.

Piggy did complete some passes but there were also plenty of drops and in the end the Terps offense failed to score an offensive touchdown for the 4th time this season.

That is simply UNACCEPTABLE for any team let alone a Big ten team like Maryland.

BETTER TIMES AHEAD

As for the Terps the loss put an end to what has been a very turmoutious season for players, coaches and fans alike.

Maryland would now head into the off season in a bit of down after today’s lifeless performance but this season does also have plenty of highs and encouraging signs for the program going forward.

For one as we saw against what would be a top 6 ranked Ohio State team next week the Terps younger skilled guys are as good as any in the conference.

Maryland has a lot of areas to improve heading into the offseason but first the athletic department must find a great fit as their next head coach hire.

As someone who follows this team closely this season has been a roller coaster as the team started out well with a 4-2 start including beating Texas once again but to end it all only winning just one of your next 6 would leave a very awful taste in this team coming back next season.

Matt Canada did wonders this season keeping this guys together but to me he’s failed in so many other areas including a key one having the team ready to play in key games.

Besides the OSU game Maryland never showed up in winnable games vs Temple, Indiana, Michigan State And now Penn State.

Going into the game many were hoping a win would be enough to give Canada the job permanently however after such a poor showing many Terps fans and slums are now once again ALL IN on bringing back Mike Locksley the current offensive coordinator of the #1 rank team in the nation in the Alabama Crimson Tide.

STAY TUNE….

I’ll have a more in-depth take on the Terps season overall and a look forward to the huge recruiting weeks coming up and a close look into next season. All that and more in my Terps 2018 season recap. Stay tune  #GoTerps
