Preview: New England Patriots Versus Washington Redskins Preseason Week One

The Washington Redskins will take on the New England Patriots in game one of a four week preseason schedule which begins on August 9th, 2018 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM Eastern Standard timing, and shall be brodcasted through the local Redskins television network on NBC Sports Washington. Through the game, expect to see more frequent play from the 2nd and 3rd stringers, practice squad players, and other NFL hopefuls looking to influence the respective coaching staffs to sign them.

Moreover, without including the preseason, the Redskins hoist a 6-4 win-loss record over the New England Patriots, since when they first played in 1972. The most recent meeting between the two teams was on November 8th, 2015 where the Patriots dismantled the Redskins by a score of 27-10. Moving on, counting the preseason, the Patriots are 13-8 against Washington, as they will square off for the 22nd time in preseason history.

As for the Patriots, players like Sony Michel and Isaiah Wynn are the teammates to watch as they are rookies heading into their preseason debuts. Additionally, Quarterback, Tom Brady is not expected to play more than 2 series’ of football.  For the Redskins, Derrius Guice and Trey Quinn are the notable rookies heading into the contest. Despite being added to the team in the offseason, Quarterback, Alex Smith will most likely have a limited amount of reps. My score prediction is that the Patriots will defeat the Redskins by a score of 27-23.
