Pimlico Will Welcome 10,000 Fans For The Preakness

The Maryland Jockey Club announced that capacity will be 10,000 fans for Preakness 146 on May 15th. Tickets will go on sale Monday April 5th at 10AM. They will be sold online at www.preakness.com. There will be tickets available in most of the normal places but seating will be limited due to social distancing. Another change this year will be no live music on the infield. Instead NBC will have musicians performing remotely as part of their coverage.

There will be several things in place to help protect the fans from Covid. Temperature checks will happen as you enter the facility. Once inside social distancing will be enforced and masks must be worn at all times. Also there will be sanitizing stations all over and line markers must also be observed.

Governor Larry Hogan said “I want to thank 1/ST and the Maryland Jockey Club for working to ensure that all the proper safety and public health protocols will be in place for Preakness 146.” Brenda Stronach, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of I/ST said “While fan attendance will be limited due to Covid 19 protocols, the excitement of the Preakness is not limited.”

Limited fans will also be allowed for the Black-Eyed Susan Day on Friday May 14th. If you aren’t lucky enough to get a ticket NBC will provide coverage starting at 5pm. Some of the earlier races will be covered on NBCSN at 2pm.
