Pitching Shines in Os 2-1 Win in Port Charlotte

It was a quiet day for the bats in Charlotte Sports Park this afternoon as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays for their first win of the season.

Hunter Harvey had a solid first appearance this spring training. After giving up two singles to leadoff the first, Harvey was able to force a double play and get a strikeout to limit the damage to one run. Harvey allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out three in his two innings of work.

Flamethrower Tanner Scott and rule-5 pick Pedro Araujo both pitched strong scoreless innings. Araujo is making a strong case for earning his spot on the roster, and just being carried throughout the season to keep him with the team like we have seen in the past.

Araujo has pitched two innings so far and has looked unhittable. In those two innings he has yet to allow a hit and has three strikeouts.

David Hess, who could be a dark horse for a rotation spot this season, came on to pitch two scoreless innings giving up only one hit and one walk.

James Teague came on in the ninth and pitched a clean inning to earn the save.

In other pitching news, Chris Lee left the game after throwing to one batter due to what is being reported as a right oblique injury.

At the plate, Garabez Rosa and Ruben Tejada provided the runs. Rosa on a solo shot to left, and Tejada with a RBI single. Rosa also added a double later in the game.

Top prospect Ryan Mountcastle also provided a double which saw Chance Sisco get gunned down by a mile trying to go first to home.
