Nationals Opening Day 25-man Roster

File:9TH Bryce Harper.jpgThe Washington Nationals have released their 25-man opening day roster and there are not too many surprises. With Doug Fister being placed on the 15-day DL,Tanner Roark and Taylor Jordan both made the roster. Roark and Jordan were battling this spring for the 5th spot in the rotation. Both will be in the rotation until Fister comes back. Unsurprisingly Stephen Strasburg will be on the mound Monday in New York for opening day, while Roark will start in the home opener.

In an anonymous poll of MLB players Bryce Harper was voted the most overrated player in baseball. It’s hard to believe that a rookie of the year could be considered overrated.  Harper needs to have a great season if he wants to shut up his haters. Harper had a sub par spring hitting .239 with 2 hrs in 46 abs.

Orioles 25-man opening day roster

425px-Oriole_Adam_JonesThe Baltimore Orioles have there 25-man roster set for opening day.  The Orioles still have to place several players on the disabled list like Manny Machado and Nolan Reimold.  The Orioles have also said that Delmon Young and Evan Meek have made the team, according to their website.  Young and Meek have to be put on the 40-man roster first, I expect that move will be coming soon.  Troy Patton will be on the restricted list as he will have to serve his 25-game suspension.

The Orioles rule-5 draft pick Michael Almanzar is also injured and will start the season on the disabled list.  When Almanzar comes back from the disabled list he has to be on the Orioles roster or the Orioles will lose him.

The Orioles still list Edgmer Escalona and Francisco Peguero on their roster, both of which are hurt and will start the season on the disabled list.  Even when Escalona and Peguero come back I doubt they will be on the active roster.

Two Maryland natives made the Orioles team, Steve Clevenger and Steve Lombardozzi.

Orioles option Weeks, Gausman and McFarland

706px-Kevin_Gausman_(cropped)The Baltimore Orioles have optioned Kevin Gausman, TJ McFarland and Jemile Weeks to Triple-A Norfolk.  The Orioles are very close to having their final roster set for opening day.

Both Gausman and McFarland played for the Orioles last season.  Gausman is one of the Orioles top prospects and he was used as a starter and out of the bullpen last season.   Gausman had a 5.66 era last season.

Reasons the Release of DeSean Jackson Was Far From a Smart Move

File:DeSean Jackson 2014 Pro Bowl.jpgHonestly thought the day wouldn’t come this soon, but DeSean Jackson has been released by the Eagles after having the best statistical season of his career. In move that shocked many, the purported reasoning for his release was his alleged involvement in gang-related activity off-field, attitude, and work ethic. Jackson has thus denied any such off-field activity. In the weeks leading up to his release, speculation had been circulating rapidly, from trade rumors to the idea that he may indeed would have been staying put after assuring his teammates and talking with head coach, Chip Kelly. Whatever the case, there’s no more rumors left, Jackson is indeed gone from Philly, and from what I believe, this decision will not favor Philly for a few simple reasons.
