Orioles win AL East

The Baltimore Orioles have clinched the American League East with a 8 to 2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.  This is the Orioles first AL East title since 1997.  The Orioles started out slowly in April but really started to turn things around when the weather got warmer.  The warmer the weather got the hotter the Orioles got.

Most of the national media picked the Orioles to have a losing season.  Now the have 90 plus wins and did so by being dominate in the AL East against divisional opponents.

Right before the All-Star break the Orioles became nearly unbeatable and continued that for the rest of the season.  The Orioles have had contributions from everyone on the roster.  From the star players like Nick Markakis, Adam Jones and JJ Hardy to surprise players like Steve Pearce and Delmon Young coming up big. The rookies Kevin Gausman, Caleb Joseph and Jonathan Schoop have also come up huge.

The Orioles bullpen and starting pitching has been fantastic throughout the season and like the hitters they have gotten better as the season has gone on.  Buck Showalter has done a brilliant job managing the team through injuries to Matt Wieters, and Manny Machado.

Now go celebrate as the Orioles are champs of the AL EAST!
