ORIOLES WALK OFF TO WIN

The Baltimore Orioles snap their losing streak to win in the tenth inning five to four against the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles put up a solid performance on offense by scoring five runs on ten hits. The Red Sox scored four runs on eight hits. Both teams were on lock down on defense by not committing any errors.

After almost every opponent scored first up to this point, it was the Orioles’ turn to strike first in this game. Pat Valaika homered in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead one to nothing.

However, this lead would not go uncontested for very long. In the top of the fifth inning Jackie Bradley Jr. homered to tie the ball game. In that same inning, Alex Verdugo brought in a run to make it two to one, Red Sox.

Only an inning later the Red Sox got on the board again. This time Kevin Pillar singled to score a run to push the lead now to three to one for the Red Sox.

It would seem as though all hope was starting to fade for the Orioles as the game entered the bottom of the eighth inning. Coincidentally, this would be where the Orioles would get some life. Anthony Santander smacked a three run home run to tie the game at three a piece.

This game would go in to extra innings because of the Santander home run. In the bottom of the tenth inning, the Red Sox would score a run with a bases loaded walk. The score was four to three.

In the bottom of the tenth, the Orioles showed why you never give up on a game until it is over. Rio Ruiz scored on a wild pitch to tie the game again at four to four. Pedro Severino walked off the game by hitting a single to drive in Cedric Mullins.

Furthermore, Ryan Mountcastle hit his first major league hit tonight. The Orioles are still in fourth place in the American League East. They look to continue their winning ways tomorrow afternoon for the last game in the series. LaBlanc is expected to start on the mound for the Orioles and Godley is expected to start on the mound for the Red Sox.
