Orioles trade Wright to Seattle, acquire infielder Ogren

Last week the Baltimore Orioles designated Mike Wright for assignment. Today, they traded him to the Seattle Mariners for 22-year-old infielder, Ryne Ogren. The struggles of Wright have been well documented. He leaves the team this year with an 0-1 record and 9.45 ERA in ten games.

Ogren was selected in the 12th round of the 2018 draft out of Elon University. Ogren was a first-team All-CAA selection in his last two seasons at Elon. As a junior, he led the team with a .338 batting average, 17 doubles, and 53 RBIs. Between last year and this year in the minor leagues, Ogren has played second base, third base, and shortstop. In the minors, he has batted .229 with five home runs and 35 RBIs in 236 at-bats. He is expected to report to the red-hot Delmarva Shorebirds as soon as tomorrow.
