Orioles Trade Closer Lopez to Twins For Four Prospects

The Baltimore Orioles have dealt closer Jorge Lopez to the Minnesota Twins for four pitching prospects. This stays the course for Elias and company as they stated that they were looking into controllable pitching. The headline piece returning to the Orioles is left handed pitcher Cade Povich who is now the 26th ranked prospect in the Orioles farm system according to MLB Pipeline. He’s currently pitching to an 4.46 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched with 107 strikeouts in high A ball. The second player is Yennier Cano who has reached the majors with the Twins and has a record of 1-0 with a 9.22 ERA in 13.2 innings pitched. The third player is Juan Rojas at 18 years old he is the youngest player acquired in the trade he’s currently in the Florida Complex League pitching to an 3.60 ERA in 30 innings pitched. The final player acquired in the deal is Juan Nunez, he’s also pitching in the Florida Complex League. He’s gone 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA with 47 strikeouts in eight games pitched. Welcome to Baltimore.
