Orioles sign OF Alex Presley

The busy morning in Sarasota has continued, with the Orioles adding veteran outfielder Alex Presley to a minor league contract as well as invited him to Baltimore’s Major League Spring Training in Sarasota, FL. Presley’s deal is worth $1.1 million and has an out clause in the deal for March 24.

Presley, 32, played well for the Tigers last season, hitting .314/.354/.416 with three homers, 10 doubles, three triples, and added five steals to his resume. The market for left-handed hitting outfielders isn’t much but this move is great for the Orioles due to Presley’s ability to be in the minors and have the ability to produce at the major league level whenever he is needed. The O’s will continue to look for possibilities for left-handed hitting outfielders but if not look for Presely to appear in some games for the birds this season, especially against RHP.
