Orioles select Ramirez, option Meek
The Baltimore Orioles have selected the contract of Ramon Ramirez
and optioned Evan Meek. The Orioles are short in the bullpen and Meek has been ineffective. Ramirez is a veteran pitcher and has been pitching well for triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles have also reinstated Michael Almanzar from the disabled list and designated him for assignment. Almanzar was the Orioles Rule-five draft pick and will likely return to the Boston Red Sox.
Here is the Orioles press release.
