Orioles rout Tigers 14-1

The Baltimore Orioles’ bats came alive today in Lakeland, FL as the offense exploded for 14 runs in the last five innings to blow out the Tigers split squad 14-1. Jace Peterson, Zach Vincej, Chance Sisco, Dwight Smith, Jr. , and Hanser Alberto all recorded multiple hits as the team collected 18 total. Andrew Cashner pitched a beauty, surrendering one run in five innings and striking out five.

While the Oriole bats were hot, the Tigers’ bats were not. They mustered only three hits on the day, with one of those being a home run from Nick Castellanos. Dwight Smith, Jr. hit his first home run of the spring in the seventh inning. The Orioles improved to 12-11-2 and will play the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at 1:05 P.M. in Sarasota.
