Orioles return to action after All-Star break, lose big to the Rays 16-4 Recap: 7/12/19

The Baltimore Orioles started the second half of the season at home hosting the Tampa Bay Rays. The O’s sent Dylan Bundy to the mound, who had finished the first half strong, but didn’t have it tonight.

Dylan Bundy’s outing tonight would not last long. Bundy only threw one inning, in which he gave up seven runs off of eight hits.

The top of the first would start with a solo home run that sent Dylan Bundy into a downward spiral. After a 37 pitch first inning, the Rays had already did enough damage with a 7-0 lead.

Gabriel Ynoa came on to pitch in the second, and allowed the Rays to extend their lead to 9-0 following a two run homer.

Jonathan Villar would pick up his first RBI of the second half, singling in Rio Ruiz in the third. This made it a 9-1 game.

After another run scored by the Rays in the fourth, Renato Nunez answered in the bottom half of the inning, smashing his twenty first home run into the seats in left center.

Gabriel Ynoa would start the seventh. After allowing three more runs to put the Rays up 14-2, Ynoa was pulled for Asher Wojciechowski, who allowed another two runs.

The Orioles got two runs back in the ninth, although they were much too little late. Renato Nunez scored Keon Broxton on a double, then Chris Davis brought in a run on a sacrifice fly. This cut the Rays lead to 16-4.

Renato Nunez is our MSB Oriole player of the game. Nunez homered and doubles, knocking two of the Birds four runs.

The Rays ran away with game one of this series by a score of 16-4. Dylan Bundy recorded the loss and moves to 4-11.

The Orioles host the Rays again Saturday, at 1:05 pm ET.
