Orioles re-sign Craig Gentry and two LHP

Added back to the Orioles outfield rotation is veteran Craig Gentry, signing him to a $900,000 base salary if he makes the major league roster. With his plus speed and defense Gentry wasn’t given many chances at the plate due to the break out season from Trey Mancini, leading to Gentry then getting assigned to the fourth outfielder role for the 2017 birds.

In 77 games in 2017 Gentry hit /257/.333/.386 with two home runs and 11 RBIs. Craig Gentry will be at spring training fighting for the bench outfield spot with recently added left-handed hitter Jaycob Brugman, who was traded from the Oakland Athletics in November.

Orioles also sign two left specialist David Holmberg and Elvis Araujo. Holmberg is a 26-year old who threw in 57 2/3 innings last season for the White Sox. Within those innings was seven starts and thirteen relief appearances, posting a 4.86ERA. Araujo who also is a 26-year old who posted a 4.35ERA in 62 innings over a two year span with the Phillies. Don’t expect either to be on the opening day roster but both could have opportunities if injuries acquire.
