Orioles option Gausman
The Baltimore Orioles have optioned Kevin Gausman and have purchased the contract of Julio DePaula. The Orioles have optioned Kevin Gausman several times this season despite the fact that he has pitched extremely well. The Orioles are managing Gausman’s innings for a late season push and hopefully playoffs.
DePaula is a veteran minor league pitcher who will likely only be used if the Orioles have a long game. DePaula is over 30 and was pitching in independent baseball and double-A Bowie before being recalled. DePaula has a 0.00 era at Bowie in 6.1 innings pitched, very small sample size.
Here is the Orioles press release.
