Orioles official release Betemit

The Baltimore Orioles have officially released Wilson Betemit. Betemit was designated for assignment earlier after not recording a single hit in his injury shortened season.

Betemit hurt his knee in spring training and the Orioles did not have room to keep him. Last season Betemit hit .261 and 12 home runs in 102 game for the Orioles before an injury ended his season. Betemit is a switch hitter who can play third base, first base and DH.
