Orioles lose in a heart breaker in extra innings

The Baltimore Orioles put in a good effort in their loss to the Buffalo Blue Jays. The end score was eight to seven. The Orioles put up seven runs on twelve hits and the Blue Jays put up eight runs on nine hits. Each team had one error a piece.

The Orioles looked strong at the start of the game when Anthony Santander hit a two run home run to lead to game two to nothing. Wade LeBlanc would not let the Blue Jays score until the top of the third inning.

Likewise, the Randal Grichuk hit his own two run home run for the Blue Jays to tie the game at two runs. Santander launched another home run in the bottom of the third to take the lead three to two.

Grichuk doubled in the top of the fifth inning to score two runs. This would allow the Blue Jays to take the lead four to three. Later on in the inning the Blue Jays would score once more. Travis Shaw homered to bring in three runs to extend the lead to seven to three.

It would not take a long time for the Orioles to respond back. In the bottom of the fifth, Chance Sisco smashed a home run to bring in two runs to get within striking distance of the lead by a score of seven to five. To follow that up, Renato Nunez would score Rio Ruiz to cut in to the score to make it seven to six.

The Orioles would tie the game with a Hanser Alberto single to bring in Nunez in the bottom of the seventh inning. Following that, this would push the game in to extra innings.

Unfortunately for the Orioles, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. pushed across Travis Shaw in the top of the tenth inning. The Orioles could not make the come back in the bottom half of that inning.

The Orioles are still in third place in the American League East after tonight. However, they are four games back from first place. The Orioles look to bounce back tomorrow for the final game in the series against the Blue Jays tomorrow afternoon.
