Orioles look to even series in Game 2 against Tampa: Lineup and game preview 7/2/19

The Baltimore Orioles look to get back in the win column in Game 2 tonight against Tampa, after an impressive start by rookie Tom Eshelman was just not enough to pick up the win.

Things were looking good for Eshelman in his first major league start, when he left the game after five innings with the Orioles leading 3-2, but Branden Kline took him out of line for the win after serving up a three-run blast to Kevin Kiermaier to put the Rays up 5-2. Tampa Bay would go on to win 6-3.

The O’s will look to bounce back tonight with RHP Asher Wojciechowski (0-0, 0.00) on the mound, who will oppose RHP Charlie Morton (8-2, 2.43 ERA) for the Rays.

Baltimore made more roster moves today, DFA-ing RHP Matt Wotherspoon in order to clear a spot for Wojciechowski to come up from Triple-A Norfolk and make tonight’s start. Tom Eshelman was also optioned back to Norfolk, with Josh Lucas coming off the 10-day injured list.
