Orioles look to begin their series with win against familiar face: Game Preview 8/9/19

The Baltimore Orioles have had a rough week to say the least, but they are looking to put their sorrows behind them tonight against the Houston Astros.

Coming off a three-game sweep from the New York Yankees, a series in which they were outscored 32-12, the Orioles need something to look forward to in their three-game series against the Astros.

Before we go into tonight’s game preview, there is an update into the dugout dispute between Chris Davis and Brandon Hyde.

Davis reached a boiling point over a play he did not make in the field, along with the frustration of his season overall, according to a report from Roch Kubatko of MASN. Davis met with manager Brandon Hyde earlier today, and both agreed to let it go and move on from this incident.

Now for tonight’s game, let’s talk pitching matchups. The Orioles will send RHP Dylan Bundy (5-11, 5.15 ERA) to the mound to face off against a familiar face, LHP Wade Miley (10-4, 3.05 ERA).

The team has made another roster move, after the option of RHP David Hess. Infielder Rio Ruiz has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk, mainly due to his offensive production for the Tides the past week.

Tonight the team is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1989 “Why Not?” Orioles team. Before the game, there will be pregame festivities, including a reunion of players from the squad that went from worst to almost first.

Here is the starting lineup for tonight’s series opener against Houston:
