Orioles fall to the Mets

The Baltimore Orioles lose to the New York Mets by a score of seven to six.

Renato Nunez started off the scoring for the Orioles when he hit a single to score a run in the top of the first inning. Soon after, Ryan Mountcastle hit a single to score Nunez to push the lead two to nothing for the Orioles.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jeff McNeil singled to score a run make the game two to one, Orioles.

A half an inning later, the Orioles responded when Rio Ruiz doubled to score two runs to extend the Orioles’ lead to four to one. Promptly after, Hanser Alberto singled to score a run to make the game five to one.

Unfortunately, in the bottom of the third inning McNeil hit a two run home run to cut the lead to five to three.

DJ Stewart hit his own home run in the top of the fifth inning to push the Orioles’ lead to six to three. In the bottom of the fifth, Michael Conforto homered to bring the ball game to six to four.

Later in that inning, Robinson Cano singled to score another run for the Mets. The Mets would only be trailing by a run going in to the top of the sixth inning.

Unluckily, the Orioles did not score for the rest of the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Mets got on the board by another home run to tie the game.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Pete Alonso sealed the game with a home run to take the lead seven to six. The Orioles would not be able to mount a come back tonight.

Fortunately, the Orioles are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Orioles stay in New York when they play the Yankees for a four game series.
