Orioles fall to the Angels 7-2 game recap 5/11/19

The Baltimore Orioles took the field for game two of this series on yet another rainy May afternoon in Baltimore.

Dylan Bundy got the start today, and future hall of famer Albert Puljos had his number early. Puljos launched a two run homer to give the Angels a first inning 2-0 lead.

Dwight Smith, who has arguably been the best off season pickup for the Orioles so far, answered with a two run shot of his own, his 7th on the season. This tied the game at 2-2.

Albert Puljos found the stands yet again in the fourth, this time a solo shot giving the Angels the 3-2 lead.

Dylan Bundy’s afternoon would end after five shaky innings, in which he gave up three runs off four hits. Not surprisingly all of his earned runs came off of the longball.

Gabriel Ynoa came in relief in the sixth inning, where he gave up three runs from three hits and only lasted for two outs in the inning.

Branden Kline came on for the last out of the sixth and for the seventh with a 6-3 deficit. Kline pitched well, striking out one batter while not giving up a hit or a walk.

Jimmy Yacabonis took the mound for the Orioles in the eighth and ninth inning. Yacabonis gave up a garbage time run in the ninth sealing the Angels 7-2 victory. Despite the three hits and one earned run, Jimmy Yacabonis struck out three of the six outs he earned.

Dylan Bundy took the loss (1-5) as things are continuing to spiral downward for the once highly anticipated starting pitcher.

The Orioles take the field again Mother’s Day Sunday, hosting the Angels for game three at 1:05 pm as the Birds send John Means to the mound for the start.
