Orioles recall McFarland: Updated Pearce DFAed

TJ McFarlandThe Baltimore Orioles have recalled T.J. McFarland from Triple-A Norfolk, according to Brittany Ghiroli.  It is not yet known what the corresponding roster move will be.  The Orioles bullpen was overworked in the Boston Red Sox series and the Orioles could use a fresh arm.
McFarland was scheduled to start today for the Tides, so it makes sense that the Orioles would bring him up.

McFarland pitched well for the Orioles last season, primarily pitching out of the Orioles bullpen but also making one start.  McFarland had a 4.22 era with the Orioles last season and a 4 and 1 record.  The Orioles needed to keep McFarland on their 25-man roster because he was their Rule-5 draft pick.

This season with the Tides, McFarland has a 0 and 1 record and a 1.84 era.  McFarland has started all three games that he has appeared in.

Here is the tweet from Ghiroli on McFarland.  The story will be updated when the move is official.

Update: The Orioles have recalled McFarland and DFAed Steve Pearce.  Pearce had one double with the Orioles.  Here is their press release.
