Orioles drop game one to the Blue Jays 11-2 Recap: 8/1/19

The Orioles offense was quiet in this first of three games, as the Blue Jays offense stormed away with an 11-2 victory.

Asher Wojciechowski couldn’t get the job done today, as he gave up four runs off six hits in 4.2 innings.

The Blue Jays went ahead 2-0 in the third following a two run home run off the bat of Vlad Guerrero Jr.

Asher Wojciechowski would give up two more runs, a single in the fourth and a home run in the fifth, leaving the game with a score of 4-0 in the Blue Jays favor.

The Orioles got one run back in the fifth, off a ground ball out by Jonathan Villar. This scored Hanser Alberto and made it a 4-1 game.

The Blue Jays would break it open in the sixth, going up 8-1. Danny Jansen hit a three run shot followed by a RBI double by Vlad Guerrero Jr.

In the eighth, Trey Mancini would blast his career high twenty fifth home run, cutting the lead to 8-2.

In the ninth, the Blue Jays added two more runs on another two run homer. This made it the final score of 11-2.

The Orioles couldn’t hold onto their momentum from the road trip, and drop game one of this series. Asher Wojciechowski moves to 2-4 with this loss.

Our MSB Orioles player of the game is Hanser Alberto, who went 2-2 with a runs scored, accompanied with a fantastic diving catch in the field.

The Orioles look to even up this series Friday, at 7:05 pm ET.
