Orioles dominate Mets on the road

The Baltimore Orioles blew out the New York Mets by a score of eleven to two. John Means got the start on the mound for the Orioles and only allowed one run.

To start off the game, DJ Stewart hit a two run home run in the top of the second inning. The Mets responded right back in the bottom of that inning. Jake Marisnick hit a solo home run to cut into the Orioles lead by a score of two to one.

After that inning, the Orioles went on an absolute tear on the scoreboard. Only a half an inning later, in the top of the third, Ryan Mountcastle launched a two run home run to extend the lead to four to two.

Furthermore, in the top of the fourth inning, Cedric Mullins tripled to score a run to make it a five to one ballgame.

Subsequently, an inning later in the top of the fifth, Pat Valaika scored a run on a single. Later on that inning, Rio Ruiz hit a giant three run home run to extend their lead to nine to one.

By this point the Orioles had the game in the bag, however they were not done scoring. In the top of the eighth inning, Valaika smashed a solo home run to make the score ten to one. Later on that inning, Jose Iglasias singled to push across the Orioles’ last run of the ballgame. The Orioles led eleven to one.

Jeff McNeil homered for the Mets in the bottom of the eighth inning; however this would not be enough to come back.

The Orioles were very efficient on offense by scoring eleven runs on fourteen hits. Additionally, the Orioles were flawless on defense by committing no errors. On the other hand, the Mets scored only two runs on six hits with one error.

The Orioles move in to striking range of a playoff spot with only being behind one and half games from the Yankees. The Orioles face the Mets tomorrow evening for the final game of the series.
