Orioles begin series in Houston: Lineups 6/7/2019
After dropping two of three in Arlington against the Texas Rangers this week, the Baltimore Orioles head south to take on the American League West leading Houston Astros.
Entering the series, the Astros possess the second best record in baseball, while the Orioles are tied with the Kansas City Royals for the worst. A series win in Houston could be a big confidence booster for the young birds.
The Orioles send right-handed Gabriel Ynoa to the mound. Ynoa is 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA on the season with 26 strikouts in 26.2 innings pitched.
The Oriole batters are set to face right-handed pitcher Gerrit Cole. After a phenomenal 2018, Cole has come back down to earth a bit this year.
On the season thus far, Cole is 5-5 with a 3.94 ERA. Cole is striking out batters at an amazing rate, with 116 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched. His current strikeout per nine inning rate, 13.4, looks to challenge the current single season record of 13.4 set by Randy Johnson in 2001.
The Orioles certainly have their work cut out for them at the plate this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET.
