Orioles avoid arbitration with Kevin Gausman

With pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training today its great news to know Baltimores ace Kevin Gausman reached an arbitration deal. Gausman started the conversation asking for $6,225,000 which was then countered by the Orioles at $5.3 million. Then reaching agreement to a $5.6M deal that includes a long list of possible bonuses.

Bonus Options:

$50,000 each for 25, 30, & 33 starts

$50,000 if he’s an All-Star

$50,000 if he earns a Gold Glove

 

Gausman who is coming off a mediocre year going 11-12 with a 4.68 ERA, making a career high 34 starts and career best 179 strikeouts. Showing good signs later in the season, Gausman bounced back well from starting the 2017 season 3-7.
