Orioles announce 2018 promotions and special events

The Baltimore Orioles are nearing spring training and they have just released their promotions and special events.

The Orioles today released their 2018 promotional schedule highlighted by many new items, including DYLAN BUNDY and TREY MANCINI Bobbleheads, a BUCK ‘SNOW’ALTERSnow Globe, an Orioles Garden Gnome, as well as several exclusive giveaway items for children including a Retro Oriole Bird Bank presented by Weis Markets and a Retro Talking Alarm Clock presented by United Concordia Dental. Several family-friendly events will once again return this season, including Kids’ Opening Day, an expanded eight-game “Friday Fireworks at America’s Ballpark” series, and Kids Run the Bases every Sunday, presented by Weis Markets.

This season’s promotional list features a variety of apparel for fans of all ages including the return of the fan-favorite Birdland Hawaiian Shirt featuring a new design, five T-Shirts, an Orioles Lightweight Hoodie, an Orioles Puffy Vest, an Orioles Floppy Hat presented by Miller Lite, and an Orioles Cap presented by DAP. The Orioles will also celebrate parents with a Mother’s Day Pashmina Scarf and a Father’s Day Neck Tie, each given to the first 20,000 fans 18 and over.

Additionally, fans will have an opportunity to showcase their Maryland pride on July 14 with the return of the second annual Celebrate Maryland Day at Oriole Park. The first 35,000 fans 15 and over will receive a black Orioles Maryland Flag Script Replica Jersey featuring the Maryland state flag. During the game, Orioles players and coaches will also wear Orioles Maryland flag script jerseys and caps, which will be authenticated and auctioned for charity. More details about this event will be available at a later date.

Parts of Oriole Park at Camden Yards will transform into a winter wonderland on June 25, six months before Christmas, when the Orioles debut a new “Halfway to Christmas” promotion complete with a unique Buck “Snow”alter Snow Globe. The snow globe, which will feature the three-time Manager of the Year, will be distributed to the first 25,000 fans 15 and over.

Two new Orioles bobbleheads and a new garden gnome will be unveiled in 2018. The first bobblehead will feature Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy on June 12, and the second will depict 2017 American League Rookie of the Year Finalist Trey Mancini on July 28. Each bobblehead will be given to the first 25,000 fans 15 and over. Another season highlight will be an Orioles Garden Gnome giveaway on July 29 for the first 25,000 fans 15 and over.

Also new this year, the “Friday Fireworks at America’s Ballpark” series will take place every Friday from May through August, allowing fans the opportunity to enjoy the popular postgame activity following eight games this season.

The Orioles will begin the 2018 season on Opening Day, Thursday, March 29, when all fans in attendance at Oriole Park will receive an Orioles Schedule Magnet presented by Long Fence. The Orioles will wrap up the first homestand on Sunday, April 1, with the fourth annual Kids’ Opening Day, as all fans 14 and under will receive a Retro Oriole Bird Bank presented by Weis Markets. A variety of unique activities will be offered to randomly-selected children, such as delivering the lineup card before the game and serving as a guest public address announcer. Following the game, kids ages 4 to 14 can run the bases like their favorite Orioles players during the first of 13 Kids Run the Bases opportunities, presented by Weis Markets, taking place after every Sunday home game in 2018.

Additional kids-exclusive events this season include two Youth Baseball and Softball Days, presented by Maryland 529, for pre-registered youth teams (April 29 and May 13) and Field Trip Day, presented by WJZ-TV, for pre-registered school groups on May 16. Additionally, on August 12, all fans 14 and under receive a Retro Talking Alarm Clock, presented by United Concordia Dental, with a prerecorded message from the longtime voice of the Orioles Radio Network JOE ANGEL.

On April 22, the Orioles will recognize Earth Day when the first 20,000 fans 15 and over will receive an Earth Day Tote Bag presented by MLB Network. The reusable bags will feature a green Orioles script logo. Additional details about Earth Day activities will be available at a later date.

The Battle of the Beltways series between the Orioles and Washington Nationals, presented by Maryland 529, will take place at Oriole Park on May 28-30. On May 28, all fans will receive a Memorial Day T-Shirt, and on May 30, the first 20,000 fans 15 and over will receive an Orioles Cooler Backpack, presented by Visit Sarasota.

Fan Appreciation Weekend will take place September 28-30 and will include three giveaways: an Orioles Coaster Set for the first 20,000 fans 15 and over on September 28; an Orioles Puffy Vest for the first 35,000 fans 15 and over on September 29; and an Orioles Duffle Bag for the first 20,000 fans 15 and over for the regular season home finale on September 30.
