Orioles add Grayson Rodriguez and other prospects to 40-man roster
The Baltimore Orioles promoted five prospects to their 40-man roster earlier this week, the team announced. Headlined by Grayson Rodriguez the Orioles top pitching prospects the Orioles also promoted SS Joey Ortiz, RHP Seth Johnson, RHP Noah Denoyer, and LHP Drew Rom.
Putting these prospects on the 40-man roster protects them from the Rule-5 draft. Seth Johnson will likely eventually be placed on the injured list as he will miss the 2023 season after receiving Tommy John surgery right after being traded to the Orioles.
Rodriguez has a great chance of being on the Orioles opening day roster. I could see Rodriguez evolve into a front of the rotation starter rather quickly. If not for a back injury Rodriguez would have made his debut in 2022.
