Orioles activate Nate McLouth and designate Endy Chavez for assignment

The Baltimore Orioles have activated outfielder Nate McLouth from the Norfolk Tides and designated Endy Chavez for assignment.  McLouth was signed to a minor league deal and had an option to opt out if the Orioles did not activate him.  Chavez has not hit well for the Orioles all season and was not getting regular playing time.  Chavez also spent two different stints on the disabled list.

Here is the tweet from Britt Ghiroli confirming the move.

Orioles will select the contract of Nate McLouth in place of Endy Chavez, who will now go on waivers. #orioles
