NXT UK Championship Special Recap
New NXT Tag Team Champions Crowned, Pete Dunne Retains NXT UK Title
Moustache Mountain Wins NXT Tag Titles
Moustahce Mountain defeated The Undisputed Era to win the NXT Tag Team titles for the first time in their careers. The Undisputed Era, now made up of Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly, held the titles since December of 2017 with a multitude of fill-ins for the injured Bobby Fish. It will be interesting to see how the Undisputed Era responds and if it will come tomorrow night on a brand new episode of NXT.
Adam Cole Retains NXT North American Championship
One of the best matches on the card was the match for the NXT North American title between NXT UK superstar Wolfgang and Adam Cole. Wolfgang threw everything at the reigning titleholder, but Cole was able to retain his title and maintain his ever growing popularity among the NXT and WWE Universe.
Ricochet and Velveteen Dream Maintain Rivalry
Just a week and a half removed from their match at NXT Takeover Chicago, Velveteen Dream and Ricochet competed against each other in a tag team match. The current NXT Champion Alestair Black teamed with Ricochet, while newcomer EC3 teamed with Velveteen Dream. This match seemed to be more filler than a build to any story, however it was probably the most hectic and compelling matches on the card. Expect Ricochet and Velveteen Dream to continue this rivalry into the foreseeable future.
Shayna Raszler Retains NXT Woman’s Championship
Shayna Raszler continued her bullish style in dismantling Toni Storm to retain her NXT Woman’s Title. This match was one of the more underwhelming on the card, but without adequate build up the excitement for this match was hard to attain. Shayna Raszler is certainly on a tear as of late, and will most likely continue her run for the foreseeable future, at least until the next NXT Takeover Brooklyn in August.
Fan Favorite Pete Dunne Retains NXT UK Title
Pete Dunne, also known as ‘The Bruiserweight,” retained his NXT UK Championship after a long and grueling match with Zack Gibson, who won the number one contender tournament earlier in the week. The match followed a familiar pattern seeing Dunne get dominated early only to bounce back and bring the fight to Gibson ten times harder. Pete Dunne retained his NXT UK title for good reason, and continues his year plus reign as UK champion.
