NXT Takeover New York Predictions

NXT Takeover New York is finally upon us. This Friday live on the WWE Network. We have 5 matches on the card. They all will have titles on the line. NXT always does a good job with it’s build up for their Takeover events. As well as giving you the right number of matches on the card. Let’s get into my predictions.

The War Raiders vs Ricochet and Aleister Black

NXT Tag Team Title Match

Here you have two of the most exciting teams on the NXT roster. Black and Ricochet are coming off a big win last week when they beat The Forgotten Sons to win the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament. The War Raiders are your reigning champs. We haven’t seen much of them on TV since they won the tag titles at NXT Takeover Phoenix. I have a good feeling this will be Black and Ricochet’s last match in NXT. They have been appearing on both the Raw and Smackdown rosters as of late. This will be a hard fought match with the War Raiders coming out on top.

Pete Dunne vs Walter

NXT UK Championship

Pete Dunne is currently the longest reigning champion in the company. He’s held the NXT UK title for 682+ days. That’s quite impressive. I don’t know a lot about this Walter guy. He appeared at the first NXT UK Takeover show. The crowded popped huge for him. I was like who is this guy. I have to do some more research on him. He’s a big guy who looks intimidating. I have a feeling Walter wins here ending Dunne’s impressive title run.

Velveteen Dream vs Matt Riddle

NXT North American Title Match

Velveteen Dream has put on some great matches at the Takeover events. He’s also had some big loses there as well. Matt Riddle is looking to win his first title in NXT. I’m not crazy about the Bro gimmick but his in-ring work is solid. This one has the match of the night written all over it. I’m going with Velveteen to retain here in a hard-fought effort by both men.

Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai vs Bianca Belair vs Kairi Sane

Fatal 4 Way Match for the NXT Woman’s Title Match

Shayna could have just fought one opponent. Io Shirai and Bianca Belair met in a number one contender match on NXT TV last month. Shayna got involved in the match. No winner was determined. General Manager Willaim Regal announced late that night that we would get a Fatal 4 Way for the title at Takeover. I have to really think about this one. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see a title change here. If Shayna loses, I can see her getting a call up to the main roster. I say she retains and stays in NXT a little longer.

Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole (Bay Bay)

2 out of 3 Falls for the vacant NXT Title

This match will be bittersweet. It was supposed to be Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano for the NXT Title. Due to Ciampa’s neck injury, he had to relinquish the title. Adam Cole (Bay Bay) won a Fatal 5 Way match a couple of weeks go against Matt Riddle, Velveteen Dream, Aleister Black, and Ricochet to earn this title match. These are two of the biggest names in NXT. This one is a real toss-up. I’d be ok with either one of these guys as champion. I’m going with Johnny here. It would mean more if he won the title from Ciampa. Regardless, it’s Johnny’s time to have a run with the NXT Title.

This is a very nice card. NXT Takeover shows will have you on the edge of your seat. A lot of the times, they outshine the main roster. I wouldn’t expect anything less during Wrestlemania weekend. Be sure to check out NXT Takeover this Friday. You will not be disappointed.
