NXT Takeover 25 predictions

This Friday we will have the 25th Takeover Event. I’m very excited about this show. I’ve watched them all. Some have been better than others but when it comes to these shows, NXT does not disappoint. We have 5 exciting matches on the card. Let’s get into my predictions.

The Forgotten Sons vs The Street Profits vs Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan vs Bobby Fish and Kyle O’ Reilly of the Undisputed Era in a ladder match for the vacant NXT Tag Team Titles

After The Viking Raiders vacated the titles because their title defense against The Street Profits ended in a disqualification, General Manager William Regal made this match during last week’s NXT show. I have a feeling this will kick off the night. You have four good teams here. I wouldn’t mind any of these teams with the belts. I have a feeling it will be either The Forgotten Sons or Undisputed Era walking out with the gold. That’s what my head says. My heart says The Street Profits. I’m going with my heart on this one.

Winner: The Street Profits

Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai for the NXT Woman’s Title

The feud with these two has progressed nicely. This is Shirai’s first one on one match for the title. I’ve been very impressed with her work on the NXT roster to this point. Shayna has been a great heel champion. She fits the role so well. This one is a toss-up. I think they will have another match at Takeover Toronto this summer. So I see Shayna retaining here and Shirai taking the belt later on this summer.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

Matt Riddle vs Roderick Strong

This will be an interesting match. Matt Riddle has been a thorn in the side of the Undisputed Era recently. He started messing with Adam Cole to get things started. Those two had a good match in which Riddle won by submission. Then the focus turned to Strong after he took him out a couple of weeks ago to get back on the good side of the Undisputed Era. These are two of the best performers on the roster. I’m still not crazy about Riddle’s gimmick but his in-ring work is solid. We know what Strong brings to the table. I expect a really good match and a potential show stealer on the card. I’m a go with Riddle winning here. This will lead to more tension with the Undisputed Era because of Strong losing.

Winner: Matt Riddle

Velveteen Dream vs Tyler Breeze for the North American Title

It was so cool seeing Tyler Breeze back in NXT last week. The exchange between him and Velveteen on the last episode is why NXT is must-see TV. I would love to see a long feud with these two. I wouldn’t mind seeing them team up as well. They would make a great team. This could be a show stealer too like the previous match I mentioned above. Both guys will go all out in that ring. I have Velveteen winning in a hard fought match.

Winner: Velveteen Dream

Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole (Bay Bay) for the NXT Title

Last month at Takeover New York, these two put on an amazing performance in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Now, these two compete again one on one. The feud has gone well. Especially on such short notice because of Tommaso Ciampa’s neck injury. It would have meant more if Johnny won the title off of Ciampa after all they went through but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I see the Undisputed Era getting involved some kind of way. Mainly Roderick Strong. I see him costing Cole the title leading to their feud to kick off the summer. Johnny Wrestling wins in another classic between these two talented individuals.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

That’s my picks. Having five matches on the card is perfect. Just enough to keep you entertained. Plus they all have a purpose. I look forward to seeing how this one plays out. What a great way to kick off the month of June. Be sure to check out the show this Friday live on the WWE Network at 7 pm along with the pre-show at 6:00 pm. I’ll be back later this week for This Week In NXT with news and the recap of the weekly show. I look forward to that. I’ll see you then and enjoy Takeover 25.
