NXT Recap 8/1/18

Heavy Machinery Fully Operational

The duo returned to action tonight for the first time since one member suffered an attack a month ago, likely from a member of The Mighty. Heavy Machinery came out and took care of business, with a little bit of help from the Street Profits who temporarily distracted The Mighty enough for Heavy Machinery to pick up the victory.

Moustahce Mountain Makes a Statement

In what was mainly wrestled as a squash match, Moustache Mountain took on State Line and dominated. The former NXT Tag Team Champions were impressive, and afterwards they challenged Undisputed Era to a championship match at Takeover: Brooklyn, which is all but set in stone. This match is sure to live up to the hype, and will continue to build the greatest rivalry in the NXT tag team division.

NXT Championship Up for Grabs

At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, Tomasso Ciampa, Alestair Black, and Johnny Gargano will fight for the most prized possession in NXT. Tonight, Ciampa took to the ring and cut a fantastic promo. Nobody wants this man as a champion, and nobody loves soaking it in more than the devious Tomasso Ciampa. After a fair amount of gloating, Alestair Black came out to confront Ciampa. Gargano cut him off and attacked Ciampa first, busting into the ring and taking out the champion. However, after Gargano was done, he was then hit by Black with Black Mass, as Alestair took a seat beside Johnny Wrestling and reaffirmed the belief that Johnny cost him his title. This championship bout at Takeover: Brooklyn will be the best match of the night!

Other Storylines

EC3 came out to have his match with Kona Reeves after a few weeks of bitter words between the two. EC3 did much of the work, until Velveteen Dream came out, challenging EC3 to a match at Takeover: Brooklyn. EC3 then finished out the match after nearly taking the loss, and afterwards accepted Velveteen’s challenge. Shayna Baszler defeated Candice LeRae in what was an underwhelming matchup between two very talented individuals. Unfortunately, the two did not get much air time, and the match made LeRae look slightly weaker than she is. Takeover: Brooklyn is approaching fast, so stay tuned to our recaps to check in on the NXT Universe!
