NXT Recap 7/25/18

Adam Cole Set for a Date with Ricochet at Takeover: Brooklyn

After a fairly easy match to start off NXT against Sean Maluta, Adam Cole was cutting a promo when Ricochet confronted him. He then challenged the North American champ to a match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in mid-August, only to have Cole deny his initial request. Cole eventually accepted, and was then attacked and chased out of the arena along with the rest of Undisputed Era by Ricochet, Moustache Mountain, and the War Raiders. Look for the build to this match to be based upon Cole’s unwillingness to fight Ricochet.

Ciampa is the New Champ

Alestair Black and Tomasso Ciampa had one of the most memorable matches of the year thus far for the NXT Championship. After weeks of attacking and belittling the champion, Ciampa finally got his opportunity to show the NXT crowd and WWE Universe what he was truly capable of. The match displayed the strengths of both competitors, with Black showing off his sneaky athleticism and Ciampa proving he is NXT’s biggest heel. The match ended when Johnny Gargano came to the ring and superkicked Ciampa to keep him from winning the title. However, in a struggle with Ciampa to take the title belt out of his hands, Gargano nailed Black with the belt, allowing Ciampa to hit his finisher and win the match. This angle will most likely culminate in a triple threat match at Takeover: Brooklyn, continuing to add fire to the hottest feud in the WWE.

Lacey Evans Picks Up Massive Victory

Lacey Evans remained hot after beating a new face in NXT, Tenilla Price. In what was a one sided match, Evans worked the ring well and continued to look good. There could be a possibility of Evans and Dakota Kai meeting at Takeover: Brooklyn after a few recent confrontations. This is a feud to keep your eye on in the coming future.
