NXT Champ Scheduled For Neck Surgery

WWE has announced today that NXT champ Tommaso Ciampa will undergo neck surgery Thursday. Ciampa has been scheduled for an anterior cervical fusion that could keep him on the shelf for months in a good case scenario. Ciampa’s 8 month title reign will come to an end as he will be forced to relinquish the coveted title due to the severity of his injury.

Ciampa who was pulled to to the main roster just last month with three other NXT stars seemed ready to cement his place with the WWE. Sadly that will have to wait, probably several months even with a successful surgery and complete recovery from the champ. Suffering what could be a possible career ending injury is nothing new to Ciampa as he was out 8 months after a severe knee injury in 2017. Adam Cole and NXT North American champion Velveteen Dream might get propelled into the title picture.
