PITCHING PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

RHP David Hess – Took a no-hitter into the 8th inning on Tuesday during the Tides 13-0 win at Durham. He’s started six games for Norfolk and has a 2-0 record with a 2.12 ERA.

GETTING CALLED UP

Both Hess and Rickard made the most of their recent call-ups to the Orioles over the weekend.  Hess pitched in his first-ever MLB game and after allowing three runs in the top of 1st to the Tampa Rays, he didn’t allow another run, going a total of six innings and earning his first-ever MLB win as the Orioles won the first game of their doubleheader Saturday, 6-3.

Rickard was called up for Sunday’s finale against the Rays and he definitely proved he wants to stay with the Orioles. He went 3 for 5, including hitting his first two home runs of the season and knocked in five runs as the Orioles trounced the Rays, 17-1.
