Norfolk Tides vs Indianapolis Indians Game 1 Preview

Suk-min Yoon (0-4 7.46) and the Norfolk Tides face Casey Sadler (3-0 1.67) and the Indianapolis Indians, AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, tonight at 7:15 in Indianapolis. Tonight’s game will be the first of four before the Tides come home for a six game home stand.

Yoon, Norfolk’s starting pitcher, is coming off one of his worst starts of the season. In his last start, Yoon pitched just three innings in which he allowed 11 hits, two homeruns, and gave up eight earned runs.

In Yoon’s previous two starts he had given up a combined two runs while only allowing 10 in 10.0 innings. Those two starts made Yoon look promising as he was improving on the year; however Yoon’s last performance brought his record to 0-4 and increased his ERA to 7.46 on the year.

Indianapolis’ starter Casey Sadler’s season has been about the opposite from Yoon’s. Sadler has posted a 3-0 record on the season with a 1.67 ERA. Sadler has appeared in four games this season, starting them all.

In the only game where he did not receive a decision, his first, Sadler allowed just one run over 6.0 innings. Sadler’s last start was his best of the year. Sadler pitched seven scoreless innings, struck out six and allowed only four hits.

Yoon looks to earn his first win for the Tides facing a Indianapolis team that has lost five in a row. From the opposing side, Sadler looks to continue his good form on the year as he faces a Tides’ lineup that has struggled thus far but has been improving as of late.
