Nicklas Backstrom continues to play well with injured right hand

Nicklas Backstrom left Game 5 of the Capitals-Penguins series with an upper-body injury. Backstrom showed no fear as he blocked a shot with his hand, and the extent of the injury was never fully known. After missing Game 6 of the Penguins series and the first three games of the Tampa Bay series, Backstrom came back to the lineup in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final.

After his return to the lineup, Backstrom tallied a goal and two assists in the final two games of the Tampa series. After Game 7 came to an end and the hand shake lines formed, if you were to pay close attention Backstrom using his left hand for the hand shakes.

Backstrom is showing quite a bit of grit in these playoffs. The Caps are heading to Las Vegas today for the Stanley Cup Finals. Backstrom is looking to continue his herculean performance in these playoffs, and bring the Cup back to the District.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final is Monday night at 8pm in Las Vegas.
