Navy Graduate/Current Johns Hopkins Med Student Wins 2017 Men’s Baltimore Marathon
BALTIMORE, Md. – On a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning more than 23,000 runners ran the 2017 Baltimore Marathon in five different running distances, the highlight being the Men’s Marathon Race.
Talk had been circulating about a young man who ran cross country in high school back in Ohio and then went to the Naval Academy in 2009, also doing cross country and currently is a medical student at Johns Hopkins University in northern Baltimore City.
Jordan Tropf, 25, is that young man and this morning, he won the 2017 Men’s Baltimore Marathon in a time of 2:29:06. This was Tropf’s third marathon this year and his win now qualifies him to run the 2017 New York City Marathon in two weeks.
Back in April, Tropf was the best runner from the state of Maryland at the 2017 Boston Marathon, where he finished in 46th place, running the 26.2-mile course in 2:28:43. Just last weekend, he finished 58th at the 2017 Chicago Marathon, with a time of 2:29:17.
When asked about his victory, Tropf (a native of Cleveland, Ohio) said “I now have one more victory than the Cleveland Browns!”
By the end of the year, Tropf plans to marry his fiance, Hannah and graduate medical school from Johns Hopkins, where he plans to begin his Naval service in the Navy Medical Core.
