Navy gets much needed win at Temple 38-14

The 2021 Navy football season has been a fight for consistency. Saturday’s win over Temple was another step in that direction. After struggling last week, the Navy defense held Temple to 182 total yards. They also had four sacks and allowed one real TD drive. Freshman Tyler Fletcher had 7 tackles and classmate Colin Ross added five.

On offense slotback Carlinos Acie had 10 carries for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Xavier Arline threw his first career TD pass to Chance Warren. Tai Lavatai had the wind knocked out of him but came back into the game after the Arline pass. Pitches were an issue as a they were behind the receiver on a few occasions. A Lavatai fumble also set Temple up on the half yard line.

Navy rushed for 218 yards and had 290 total. The Midshipmen are now 3-8 and have a week off before finishing the season with the Army/Navy Game. This year’s game will be played at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It will be on December 11th at 3pm and will air on CBS. This game will determine whether Army wins the Commander In Chief’s Trophy. A Black Knight win means they win it for the second year in a row. A Navy win means all three academies would finish 1-1 so Army retains the trophy.
