Navy Breaks Into Top 25 In Both Polls

Off to one of their best starts in history at 5-0, it looks like the coaches and writing that conduct the FBS rankings have finally given the Navy Midshipmen the respect they deserve.

Coming off that thrilling 48-45 come form behind victory in the Commander-in-Chief Trophy game versus the Air Force Falcons (1-4), Navy is now ranked #25 in the AP Poll and #24 in the Coaches Poll.

With a rushing offense that is operating with surgical precision (414.6 yards per game), Navy leads the FBS in that category.  Though historically, Navy has not thrown the ball much since the days of when future Hall-of-Famer Roger Staubach in the early ’60s, QB Zach Abey has gone 16 for 40 and 471 yards.  More importantly, he has thrown five TDs while only have two INTs.

Though the defense is still the weakest link in the chain, they have stepped it up when needed to secure key victories.

Navy goes on the road Saturday afternoon for the next game at the Memphis Tigers (3:45 PM ESPNU).
