High School

Hasan Abdullah is a 2015 graduate of Clay-Challkville High School in Pinson, AL. As a junior, Abdullah averaged 14 points, 9 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds per game for the Cougars. He posted impressive numbers in his senior season as well, averaging per game 17.4 points, 5.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals.

A Bryant Jordan Student-Athlete Award winner, Abdullah earned selections to the Alabama Class 6A All-State Second Team, the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, and the 2015 Birmingham News All-Metro Second Team. Abdullah became the first Clay-Chalkville basketball player to sign with a Div. 1 school when he chose to attend the Naval Academy.

Freshman Year (2015-16)

In his first year with the Midshipmen, Abdullah played in eight games. He missed the second half of the season with a hip injury. Even though he saw limited playing time, Abdullah earned a place on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Sophomore Year (2016-17)

Hasan Abdullah played in all 32 games as a sophomore, starting 31. He led the Midshipmen in assists (3.3 per game), three-pointers made (48) and minutes played (28.4 per game). Abdullah’s average of 1.9 steals per game not only led all Navy players, it ranked fourth in the Patriot League. Named again to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the sophomore also was co-winner of the Midshipmen’s Paul Evans Most Improved Player Award.

Junior Year (2017-18)

In Abdullah’s junior year, he played in 30 games, starting 28. His share of the team lead in assists per game (3.4) ranked sixth in the Patriot League. Again, Abdullah led the team in three-pointers made (49) and steals per game (2.2), the latter ranking 17th in the entire NCAA. His 29.1 minutes played per game was second on the Midshipmen team.  Abdullah received the team’s Kevin Sinnett Academic Achievement Award.

Senior Year (2018-19)

Abdullah will be one of only two returning starters for Navy in the 2018-19 season. (Junior center, Evan Wieck, also returns for the Midshipmen.)
