Nats Beat Phillies 10-4

The Nationals beat the Phillies ten to four. This is the Nationals’ third win in the last five games, and their record is now 63-63, and they are now at .500 in terms of winning percentage. The win will be credited to Jimmy Cordero, his first career win. The loss will be credited to Victor Arano, his second of the year.

The Nats started off with the scoring, when Tanner Roark hit a double that scored in Ryan Zimmerman. The Phillies than stuck in the sixth inning, which is where they scored all four of their runs. It started with a home run hit by Roman Quinn, which would be his first career home run. Former National Asdrubal Cabrera than hit a single that scored in Cesar Hernandez, making it two to one. Carlos Santana would then hit a single that scored Rhys Hoskins, making it three to one. They scored their final run when Maikel Franco hit into a groundout, but this would score in Cabrera. The Nats struck in the bottom of the sixth, and would take the lead. It started with a single that was hit by Matt Wieters that scored Juan Soto. Then, Andrew Stevenson (who was just called back up) hit his first career home run, a pinch-hit two run home run. This would tie the game at four. Then, Wilmer Difo hit a home run right after Stevenson, making it five to four. Then, Bryce Harper hit a double, that scored in Trea Turner. Then, in the seventh, Ryan Zimmerman hit a solo home run, making it seven to four on his eleventh home run of the season. Finally, the Nats scored their last two runs in the eighth. The first was on a Anthony Rendon double, which scored in Adam Eaton, and the second was on a single by Wieters which scored Soto.

The Nats play the Phillies again tomorrow. The game begins at 7:05, and will be headlined by the pitching matchup of Zach Eflin for the Phillies, and Stephen Strasburg making his return for the Nats.
