Nationals Win Series With 18-4 Rout Of Marlins

The Washington Nationals looked to win a series for the first time in over two weeks as Max Scherzer took the mound to face the Miami Marlins. It seemed as though the stars were aligned for a Nationals victory, and indeed they were!

The game was back and forth until the fifth inning when the Nationals exploded for seven runs including an RBI single by Mark Reynolds, who had ten RBIs tonight. Washington took a 10-3 lead and then added eight more runs for good measure en route to an 18-4 win over the Marlins, the Nationals’ fourteenth consecutive victory over Miami dating back to last season. The story of this game was obviously Mark Reynolds, who batted in 10 runs (the Marlins as a team batted in 4) on 5 hits (the entire Marlins team had 7). The route also gives Max Scherzer his first win since June 5th, a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Nationals will go for the sweep as Tanner Roark takes the mound at 1:35 PM
