Nationals vs Rangers 5/30 Lineup and Preview

Stephen Strasburg The Washington Nationals could be one of the luckiest teams coming into their 53rd game of the season even though they are 25-27. The Nationals have had four of their eight starting players in their lineup on the disabled list this year as well as two of the five starting rotation pitchers visiting the DL. The Nationals have lost six of their last seven games and are currently batting only .231 in the month of May as well as having the most errors in all of baseball since the start of the season. So how are they one of the luckiest team in baseball? They are the luckiest team in baseball because even with all of these horrendous things happening they are currently only 2.5 games behind the NL East division leaders, Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves.

Hopefully things will be turning around as Ryan Zimmerman starts his rehab assignment in High-A Potomac tonight and could be on the big league roster as soon as Tuesday. The Nationals will look to turn things around even sooner as they head into a three game series against the former Washington baseball franchise, the Texas Rangers.

The Nationals will start the series off with their stud pitcher, Stephen Strasburg, on the mound looking to continue his string of excellent starts he has put together lately. Strasburg has been the one bright spot for the team in the month of May and actually most of the season. Since his fifth start of the season Strasburg has put together seven quality starts in a row leaving him with an ERA of 2.28 over that span as well as currently having the second most strikeouts in the National League with 81 on the season.

The struggling Nationals lineup will look to take advantage of struggling Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis who is currently posting an ERA of 5.10 and has an opponent batting average against of 3.37. This is one of the more interesting matchups in how bad the Nationals offense has been this month and how many hits Lewis gives up either way it will be an interesting matchup to watch.
