Nationals vs Giants 6/12 Lineup and Preview

Blake Treinen

Blake Treinen

The Washington Nationals are for real. The Nationals came into the bay area for a four game series against the best team in baseball, San Francisco Giants, and have set themselves up for a four game sweep along with claiming the NL East lead.

The Nationals have won four straight along with ten of their last twelve to place their record at 35-29 and has allow them to pass the Atlanta Braves in the division. They will look to sweep the Giants, in San Francisco for the first time since the 2003 season and will look to get their first four game series sweep since 2003 as well.

On the mound for the Nationals is rookie Blake Treinen who will look to make his fourth career start and will hope to keep the Giants offense at bay like the rest of the Nationals rotation who have held the Giants to under two runs in all three games. Treinen still doesn’t have a victory as he has a 0-2 record however his 1.78 ERA has been very impressive. In his last start against the Padres Treinen allowed just two runs over six innings hut was unable to get the win due to a blown save by Rafael Soriano.

Opposing the Nationals will be someone that they have seen many times before in veteran Tim Hudson. Hudson is in his first year with the Giants and has posted a 6-2 record with an outstanding 1.97 ERA on the season which leaves him as one of the impressive pitchers for the talented Giants rotations. Hudson has seen the Nationals many times before as he has a 16-5 record with a stellar 2.45 ERA against the team from the nation’s capital.
