Nationals vs Giants 6/10 Lineup and Preview

1400689238806 The Washington Nationals are now the hottest teams in baseball as well as proving to be the most dangerous teams and this is all being down without their most known player, Bryce Harper. The Nationals came into the California bay area to take on the team with the best record in baseball, the San Francisco Giants, and went onto beat the Giants 9-2.

The Nationals offense has been outstanding in their last ten games scoring 62 runs in those games however it has been the stellar pitching staff that has led to them winning eight of their last ten. In the last ten games the starting rotation has pitched ten consecutive quality starts where their starting pitcher goes at least six innings and allows less than three runs.

The streak of ten quality starts is not the most impressive thing the Nationals rotation has done recently. In the last six games the starting rotation has pitched 43 innings, given up 25 hits, only 7 earned runs, 47 strikeouts, and ZERO walks. That outstanding run is so unheard of it hasn’t been done since 1914, exactly 100 years ago.
The starting rotation has been tremendous in their last ten games however the offense has been just as impressive.

The hottest player for the Nationals is not the one most people expect to be the focal point of the offense it is Denard Span who in his last 19 games is batting .360 with a surprising slugging percentage of .539. Ian Desmond finish last night games a homerun shy of the cycle and has driven in nine of his 3 RBIs in the last three games.
Anthony Rendon is returning to the lineup after missing his third consecutive game due to a sore right thumb. Just before Rendon went with his injury he was batting a season high .371 with four homeruns in the previous eight games.

Doug Fister will be returning to San Francisco where he pitched his only start there during the 2012 World Series where he pitched against tonight’s starter for the Giants Madison Bumgarner. Fister has been the best pitcher for the Nationals after his first start where he has gone 4-0 with an ERA of 2.23 including 1-0 with an ERA of 1.46 in his two road starts on the season.

The two hottest players for the Nationals have been Span and Jayson Werth however they will be facing a tough matchup against Bumgarner as they are only 1-15 against him in his career.
