Nationals Sweet Reds: Series Recap

The Nationals started their season with a 3-0 series sweep of the Reds away in Cincinnati. Here’s a quick list of things that helped them start the season 3-0.

  1. Adam. “Spanky.” Eaton. He is back folks. Eaton is 8 for 13 with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, and seven runs scored. That means of the Nationals 21 runs scored, Eaton has partially accounted for over half of them. Talk about a leadoff hitter…
  2. Max, Stras, and Gio look good. The three combined for four runs (two earned runs) on 18.1 innings pitched. That’s a combined ERA of 0.99. You can’t ask for much more from your top three.
  3. Bryce is Bryce. In game three of the series, a fan yelled “overrated” at Bryce. He proceeded to go yard for the second time that day. Classic.
  4. Run on ’em. Trea Turner, Michael A Taylor, and Wilmer Difo each had a stolen base in the three game series. That’s one per game. A swiped bag a day keeps the losses away.
  5. The Firm is Back. Kintzler, Madson, and Doolittle didn’t exactly shut the door 1-2-3 like they did for most of last year, but the bullpen at the beginning of last year likely would have blown one of the three games that the Nats just won.
