Nationals Routed By Phillies 12-2

The Washington Nationals entered the night with a half game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies for second place in the NL East and holding a 2-1 lead in the season series. Unfortunately, neither one of those claims lasted long.

Tanner Roark got hit early as the Phillies got him for two in the first inning on a single by Carlos Santana to take an early 2-0 lead. The Nationals would tie the game on a double by Michael A Taylor-who extended his hitting streak to 13 games-and a sac fly by Wilmer Difo in the second inning. Unfortunately that was the high point of the night as the Phillies would score the final ten runs of the game en route to a 12-2 rout of the Nationals to leapfrog Washington into second place in the NL East and tie the season series at 2-2. The Nationals record drops to 40-34.

Nationals will attempt to even up the series tomorrow as Erick Fedde takes the mound at 4:05
